Children
learn colors by
playing a variation of musical chairs.
Objectives
: To learn
to walk to music in a circle and to learn colors.
Materials
:
Music
cassette of slow to
moderately fast music
Cassette
player
Tape
Pieces
of construction paper
of different colors (enough for each child to have a piece of paper to
stand on).
I
would make the construction
paper blue, green, red, yellow orange, and purple. Maybe 3 or 4 of each
color.
Plan
:
Part
1 :
Tape
colored construction
paper to the floor where you are going to play the songs.
Put
down enough construction
paper for every student to have a color to stand on.
You
can have more than one
student on the same color just not the same piece of construction paper.
For
example, you can have
three kids on three pieces of blue construction paper.
Part
2 :
Explain
to the students
that when the music stops they are to stay on that color of paper.
After
the music is turned
of the teacher will select a color and ask who is standing on the color
___________. (green) then those students say their name.
Part
3 :
If
desired you can all students
win a prize when their color is called and everyone plays until their
their
color is called and they win a prize.
This
would be good for at
a festival or celebration such as a birthday party! Have Fun!
