The Key In The Wall

Key In The Wall
Listen to this ballad.

In Kirkland town, where dreams take flight,
Delphine dug with all her might.
A rusted key, in dirt concealed,
A secret world it soon revealed.

She showed Theo, her friend so keen,
A key, perhaps, to worlds unknown.
They tried each lock, but none would fit,
Until a wall with moss was lit.

“What’s this here?” said Theo with glee,
“A keyhole just for you and me!”
With trembling hands, Delphine turned the key,
And the door creaked open to the sea.

The key clicked softly, then a loud whirr,
The door creaked open, like the start of a blur.
A golden light swirled like fireflies in the night,
As the doorway shimmered with dazzling light.

Through the doorway, hand in hand,
They stepped into a wondrous land.
Floating islands, skies of pink,
Creatures glowing, quick as a wink.

A turtle grand, its shell adorned with moss,
Swam through air, like a ship's prow with no loss.
“Welcome,” said a voice so kind,
A Keeper with a crown designed.

"A sanctuary for those who seek,
A place where wonders softly speak.
But time is short, an hour to roam,
Before you must return back home."

The Keeper’s words were soft but clear,
A riddle to solve, the path unclear.
They ran on bridges made of light,
Slid down waterfalls, pure and bright.

“Where’s the crystal?” Theo did ask,
“We’ve got to find it, that’s the task!”
They crossed the sky, where stars were spun,
And searched until the setting sun.

A lion spoke with voice so deep,
“The crystal lies in waters steep.”
They swam through streams, the crystal bright,
It shone and sparkled in the light.

But soon the hour came to end,
The Keeper led them back, my friend.
The key dissolved in light so pure,
A memory, forever sure.

“Will all believe what we just saw?”,
As Delphine held a leaf, in awe.
“Perhaps they won't,” she softly said,
“But we will, that is what we'll  spread.”
